Life in retrospective seems to be divided not into decades, but in chapters, acts or scenes of a work not in progress, but as performance art or as epochs that radically change due to some cataclysmic event. Poetry can render meaning to these events or try to capture a moment a place it in perspective. Synthetic Sin relates life’s journey. The pain that we carry that holds us down, the shame we carry, the misremembered memories become part of us, live under our skin, so that we carry these ideas with us until we fi nd a way to let them go. While this anthology tells the story of one woman’s life -- any women can fi nd herself in at least one of these poems regardless of sexual orientation, marginalization, or status.
